Minerals Resources in Himachal Pradesh:

The state of Himachal Pradesh is endowed with several important minerals. As per investigation of Geological Survey of India, the minerals available in Himachal Pradesh include limestone, gypsum, quartzite, gold, pyrites, copper, rock salt, slate, barytes, magnesite, silica, sand, pitchblend, natural oil and gas, mica, iron ore, cobalt, nickel, silver, antimony, clay, phosphorite, coal and lead etc. Himachal Pradesh is the only state where rock salt is mined.

Mainly at Rajban, Korga and Bharli areas 0f Sirmour district. Also at Kuthar area of Solan district, Bathri area of Chamba District, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts.

Rock Salt 
Gumma and Darang areas of Mandi district 
5.
Barytes 
Kanti, Mishwa Tatyana, Dhala-Pipli and Tiler Dhar areas of Sirmour district. 
Also found at Naldehra near Shimla.
6.
Slate 
Mandi, Chamba, Sirmour and Kangra districts.
Khaniara in Kangra district is famous for slate mines. 
7.
Oil and Natural Gas
Deotsidh in Hamirpur, Ramshar in Solan and Jawalamukhi in Kangra district. 
8.
Iron Ore
Kangra, Kuliu and Mandi districts.
9.
Copper 
Chamba, Kuilu, Kinnaur, Sirmour and Lahaul-Spiti districts. 
10.
Uranium 
Kuliu and Hamirpur districts. 
11.
Coal
Mandi, Kangra and Solan districts 
12.
Mica 
Kuliu, Kinnaur and Lahaui-Spiti districts. 

Soils founded in Himachal Pradesh

The soils of the state can broadly be divided into nine groups on the basis of their development and physico - chemical properties. These are given below:

☑ alluvial soils, 
☑ brown hill soils, 
☑ brown earth, 
☑ brown forests soiIs, 
☑ grey wooded or podzolic soils, 
☑ grey brown podzolic soils, 
☑ planosolic soils, 
☑ humus and iron podzols 
☑ alpine humus mountain speietal soils. 

The soil founded in Bilaspur district, Kangra, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, Solan and Sirmaur districts is generally brown, grey brown podzolic and alluvial. In Kinnaur district, Lahul -Spiti district and some parts of Chamba District have humus mountain speletal soils. districts Kullu and Shimla have grey - wooded podzolic soils.
