Passes in Himachal Pradesh : 

In Himachal Pradesh, the natural view is very interesting, and there is an endless multiformity to attract the eye. But nothing on the general stages can stake up in beauty and spaciousness with the high Mountain Passes. These are collapse passages and are of prevailing importance, when mountains are hurdle against travel and trade. The value of a Pass depends upon its elevation above, lower land at either end, length of time in which it is free of snow and obstacle, thus open to trekking, and the type of area it joins.

These Passes locally popular as Jots and La are very important physical specifics. All these Passes have difficult terminal, and strikingly instantaneous palatable towards more environmental fragility. Himachal Pradesh is a God gifted place where, one can pursue any adventures such as trekking, climbing, skiing, hang-gliding, heli-skiing, water sports (including white water sports), golfing, hunting, fishing and crossing of high Passes over one range to another range. Thus Himachal suits everything, every time and in every season. Some of the special passes located in the state are stated below.
Rohtang Pass
Rohtang Pass forms the main gateway between Lahaul Valley and other Southern area of Kullu-Manali. The elevation of this pass only 3978 meters (13400 feet). It is one of the most dangerous Passes anywhere. It is notorious for its blizzards and snow storms which can overtake unway travellers or tourists on or near the crest any time.

Kunjum Pass
Kunjum Pass provides the main approach or connected to Spiti from Lahaul. The Spiti area is seperated by the Kunjum Range from where the Spiti river come into being. This Pass is situated at 60 km from Gramphoo towards Kaza, on the Gramphoo-Kaza road. The height of this pass is 4520 meters, yet it is safer and easier to trekking.

Sach Pass
The Sach Pass is situated at Pangi Valley in Chamba district and the height of this pass is 4395 meters. There have helipad facility in Killar is 137 km from Chamba, and could be reached through this Pass. From here one route goes to Kishtwar (Jammu) while another route way to Manali.

Baralacha Pass
The Baralacha Pass (Baralacha La) situated in Lahaul district and on Manali-Leh road, about 75 km from Keylong. The elevation of this pass is 4890 meters and nearly 8 km long. It is known as "Pass with cross roads on summit" and the roads from Zanskar range.

Ghasutri Pass
It is located in Chamba in Chamba district. It is also known as 'the Gulmarg of Himachal Pradesh' or 'the mini Switzerland', one has to move via Chamba (996 meters) to Chhatrari (1990 meters) and then to Chanderkup Tal (3450 meters).

Kugti Pass
It is at an elevation of about 4961 meters and it is situated in the Chamba region. It is a green and panoramic Valley. The magnificent and beautiful Kailash Peak is also visible from there.

Tempola Pass
It is situated at an elevation of about (4930 meters) in the district of Lahaul-Spiti. You can walk along Yoche nullaha to reached of this Pass. It is one of the most beautiful Pass in Lahaul Spiti.

Inderhar Pass
It is situated at an elevation of about 4320 meters and it is situated in Kangra district. The route goes from Dharamshala having a steady climb and has well view up to Triund (2975 meters). It is situated between Dharamshala and Chinota(Kangra).

Talang Pass
Its height is about 4640 meters above the mean sea level and lies between Kangra-Chamba. You can goes along the Talang nullaha through Supadhar (2500 meters) a place of Gujjar and Gaddi tribes for summer.

Barla Jot
It is situated at the height of about 4931 meters beyond Palampur (Kangra). The trip has to be relentlessly crossing Panhartu (3600 meters) first.

Thamsar Jot
It is situated on Dharmshala towards manali and an elevation of 4572 meters above sea level. One is to climb via Palampur to Panhartu Jot and trek to this Pass.

Pin Parvati Pass
Pin Parvati Pass is an elevation of nearly 5319 meters. It is situated on Kullu and Spiti Valley is panoramic and beautiful.

Jalori Pass
It is situated at the height of nearly 3135 meters beyond Narkanda (2708 meters). Before reaching the Pass there is a Hatu Peak (3136 meters).
